Celebrating 7 Weeks of La Rose Cavalier's Purebred Cavalier King Charles Litter

As the La Rose Cavalier litter of purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels reaches the milestone of 7 weeks old, it's a perfect time to reflect on their development and the exciting changes that have taken place over the past few weeks. This period is crucial in a puppy's life, marking significant growth in both physical and social aspects.

Milestone Updates

At 7 weeks, the puppies are becoming more independent and are showcasing their unique personalities. Here are some key milestones observed in the litter:

  • Physical Growth: The puppies have experienced significant weight gain and are now more mobile. Their coordination is improving, and they are starting to run and play with each other, showcasing their developing strength.

  • Teething: As they approach this age, the puppies are beginning to lose their baby teeth. This process can lead to increased chewing behaviour, so providing appropriate toys is essential to help soothe their gums.

  • Vision and Hearing: By 7 weeks, the puppies have fully developed their vision and hearing. They are now able to respond to sounds and visual stimuli, making playtime even more engaging.

  • Basic Training: Introducing basic commands such as "sit" and "come" has started. The puppies are beginning to understand the concept of training and are eager to learn, especially when treats are involved!

Increased Socialisation

Socialisation is a critical component of a puppy's development, and the La Rose Cavalier litter is receiving plenty of exposure to various environments, sounds, and people. Here’s how the socialisation process is progressing:

  • Interaction with People: The puppies are being handled by different family members and friends, helping them become comfortable with various scents and voices. This exposure is essential for their confidence and future interactions. This week they even had a special visit to a local primary school.

  • Meeting Other Dogs: The litter has had opportunities to meet older dogs, which teaches them essential canine social skills. Observing and interacting with other dogs helps them learn appropriate behaviour and body language.

  • New Environments: Short trips outside the home have been introduced, allowing the puppies to explore different settings. This includes exposure to different surfaces, sounds, and smells, which is vital for their adaptability. We have expanded their outdoor play area so they have plenty of running space and it is pleasing to see they are improving their toilet training.

  • Playtime: Play sessions with littermates are essential for developing social skills. The puppies are learning to communicate, share toys, and even establish their pecking order through play.

Looking Ahead

As the La Rose Cavalier litter continues to grow and develop, the next few weeks will be filled with even more exciting milestones. Their personalities will further emerge, and continued socialisation will prepare them for their future homes. Potential owners can look forward to a well-rounded puppy that has been nurtured in a loving environment, ready to bring joy and companionship into their lives.
